Houston Rockets star center Alperen Sengun was diagnosed with an ankle sprain and a bruised knee, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Turkish big man could be returning by the end of the regular season if his recovery progresses well.
Sengun was hurt during the Rockets‘ 114 – 102 win at the Sacramento Kings on Sunday (11/3). The Turkish big man jumped to contest Domantas Sabonis in transition and fell awkwardly on the court, holding his knee in pain. He had to exit the floor in a wheelchair and there was a fear that he suffered a severe injury.
Before he was injured, Sengun had scored 14 poins over 29 minutes.
In his sophomore season in the NBA, Sengun has emerged as one of the most prominent big men in the league. He’s leading the Rockets in points and rebounds with 21.1 and 9.3 respectively while being the second-top passer of the team with 5.0 assists.
