Hitting a game-winner is huge, doing it against Nikola Jokic with a left hook from the free-throw line is amazing. But if you’re also fasting because of Ramadan, it makes it unbelievably difficult.
However, Kyrie Irving managed to do it, giving Dallas the 107-105 victory with one of the best shots of his Hall-of-Fame caliber career in front of the two-time NBA MVP and reigning champ.
Commenting in the aftermath of his teammate’s feat, Luka Doncic showed his disbelief. “It’s unbelievable, man. I don’t think people realize how tough of a shot that is — with the off-hand, like even to have a chance… I don’t think people realize how tough that shot is”, he first said.
Commenting on Kyrie Irving playing with such intensity and importance during Ramadan, the Slovenian guard was even more galvanized. “I wouldn’t be able to do it. I’m impressed. Like I said, he’s different. He’s different”, he said as also reported by Dallas Mavericks’ beat writer Grant Afseth.
Nikola Jokic himself also commented about such a shot. “Kyrie [Irving] made a really tough shot. If anyone could make that shot, it was him. I was surprised, but also kind of not. He can make that shot for sure”, the Serbian said.
