After his latest spectacular outing, Domantas Sabonis talked about his father. He compared the current NBA and his performances with the Sacramento Kings to the league featuring Arvydas Sabonis dominating as a player of the Portland Trail Blazers.

“It is just different eras,” he told NBA TV after pushing his side to a win over the Toronto Raptors in Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, “I feel like my dad was one of the greats.”

Debuting in the league based in North America at 30, his father was past his prime and slowed down by injuries. Still ahead of his time as a versatile center, his spells with the Blazers added to his legacy as one of the best players of all time. Recognizing his contributions, Arvydas Sabonis was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011, following his entry into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2010.

Behind 13 points, 17 rebounds, and two assists in Canada, Domantas Sabonis went up to 24 triple-doubles, adding to his lead in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season, besides posting a double-double for the 51st straight game. “For me to be able to do this, I always give credit to all my teammates. They make life easy for me,” he said.

Up to 40-28, the Kings rank sixth in the Western Conference, at the bottom end of the zone handing a direct berth in the 2024 Playoffs, half a game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.
