In the standout 133-85 win against the Toronto Raptors in the latest NBA Night, the Minnesota Timberwolves got a huge contribution from Luka Garza, who added 16 points on 7/10 from the field in just nine minutes of playing time, coming off the bench.

As reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the American-Bosnian 25-year-old center will now see his two-way contract converted to a standard contract, placing him alongside Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in the team’s center package for the upcoming NBA Playoffs.

Nephew of former Fortitudo Bologna player Teoman Alibegović – father of Mirza, Amar, and Denis -, he spent four years in the NCAA with the Iowa Hawkeyes, selected with the 50th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. Being with Minnesota since 2022, he’s averaged 4.2 points this year.

Debuting with the Bosnian national team alongside Dzanan Musa and Jusuf Nurkic in the 2023 FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament, he averaged 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds over his first five-game International span. He had two double-doubles against Portugal and Israel.
