Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis was named Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference, the NBA announced. Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving received the honor among Western Conference players.
Porzingis averaged a double-double of 19.8 points/10 rebounds while also posting 3.0 blocks over four wins of the Celtics against the Charlotte Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings and the Portland Trail Blazers last week. The Latvian big man had his top performance vs. the Thunder, posting 27 points (11-14 shots), 12 rebounds, five blocks and assists.
Overall during 2023-24, Porzingis has 20.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 asssits and 1.9 blocks. He’s the Celtics third-highest scorer and second-best rebounder to help the team have the best record in the NBA at 62 – 16.
