Tristan Vukcevic made the decision to leave Partizan Mozzart Bet midseason and try his luck in the NBA with the Washington Wizards.
After a couple of great performances, it seems like he made the right decision for himself and finally opened up about the risky change.
“I wanted to do it. It was my decision because I didn’t like it in Partizan; I had a very bad time for two years. And when that opportunity came, I said, ‘I don’t care. I’m going to go for it, and that’s it,’” he told Toni Canyameras from Mundo Deportivo.
He chose not to delve into details about why he didn’t enjoy his time with the Belgrade outfit.
“Well, many things happened; I don’t want to get into too much detail. But I didn’t play much, and when I played, I didn’t feel comfortable on the court,” he said.
Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude towards Partizan’s head coach, Zeljko Obradovic.
“Yes, he helped me a lot, and I always speak highly of him. I was 18 when he picked me up, and I can say that experiencing basketball elsewhere has really helped me a lot,” Vukcevic said.
He seems to be on the right path in the NBA, and the style of play seems to suit him more than in Europe.
“Yes, I like it much more. It’s faster, I’m playing freely. It’s more about doing what you can do well, fewer plays, and more playing with talent,” Vukcevic said.
