The Golden State Warriors are planning to convert two-way center Usman Garuba to a standard NBA deal for the rest of the season, as reported by Shams Charania from The Athletic.
Therefore, the 22-year-old Spanish national team player is expected to fill the Warriors‘ final roster spot and is playoff eligible.
Garuba joined the NBA in 2021 as the 23rd overall draft pick by the Houston Rockets. He was then traded to the Atlanta Hawks in the summer of 2023, and subsequently to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who waived him before the beginning of the season.
On September 25, 2023, Garuba signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors and their NBA G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, and averaged 12.5 points and 10.1 rebounds for the G League outfit.
The former Real Madrid player recorded only five regular-season appearances for the Warriors, for a total of 104 during his NBA career.
