According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Sacramento Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez is among the finalists for the Brooklyn Nets‘ head coaching position.
The Nets parted ways with Jacque Vaughn in February after a 21-33 start to the year and are in search of a new head coach. The Spanish coach is reportedly in the final round for the job.
Two other coaches are in the mix: former NBA champion Mike Budenholzer and Phoenix Suns associate head coach Kevin Young.
Fernandez has been with the Kings since 2022, working alongside the experienced Mike Brown. He previously worked as an assistant to Mike Malone with the Denver Nuggets in 2016 and is currently the head coach of the Canadian national team, winning the bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
His name was also mentioned among the potential candidates for the soon-to-be vacant head coaching role with the Charlotte Hornets, as Steve Clifford is leaving for a job in the front office.
