Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors was announced as the 2023-24 Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year on Thursday.
The four-time NBA champion placed among the finalists alongside DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Succeeding the inaugural recipient of the Jerry West Trophy, De’Aaron Fox, he gathered 298 total points, including 45 first-place votes. DeRozan ranked second with 272 points and Gilgeous-Alexander was third behind 160 points.
Revealing 15 players voted by a media panel, Nikola Jokic showed up in fourth place. The Serbian superstar of the Denver Nuggets tallied 85 points with four first-place nods.
Sitting sixth on the list was Luka Doncic. The Slovenian leader of the Dallas Mavericks finished with 16 points, including one vote as the most clutch player of the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks was one of the four players sneaking in with one point.
Beyond Europeans, Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks with 26 points was fifth, Kyrie Irving followed his Mavs teammate Doncic and sat sixth with 14 points, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves got six points, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics drew five points, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers went for three points, and Damian Lillard of the Bucks had two points. Fox of the Sacramento Kings went from winner to one point, tied with the Greek Freak, teammate Malik Monk, and Jalen Williams of the Thunder.
