Luka Doncic deals with pain in Game 3: “Trying to battle”

Far from a typical assignment with Luka Doncic dealing with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness. In Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder on the latest installment of NBA Saturdays, he also hurt his back. However, he guided his side to a win in American Airlines Center and a 2-1 lead in the 2024 NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel Western Conference Semifinals.

“Everything,” the Slovenian guard replied about specific pain areas.

“In the last play, when I split two defenders – obviously, nobody touched me – I hurt my knee again,” he updated his status, “I am just trying to battle out there. We got to win this. That is all that matters.”

Doncic, 25, picked up a back injury down the stretch. “That is the least of my problems. It was just a hit. I will get better in two days,” he reassured commenting on his effort opposite Lu Dort, falling to the floor and earning a jump ball.

Space for recovery emerges before Game 4 on Monday. “I need all the rest I can get,” stressed Doncic.

“If you are here, you got to believe,” he mentioned on the Mavs looking to win a best-of-seven series to advance to the Western Conference Finals and line up opposite the Denver Nuggets or Minnesota Timberwolves, “I believe we can. It is going to be hard. We did not do anything yet. We won two games and we need to win four.”
