Bogdan Bogdanović had a great individual season in the NBA. He was even in the running for the Sixth Man of the Year award, but unfortunately, the Atlanta Hawks were stopped in the Play-Ins.
Therefore, the Serbian guard’s season is over. Speaking to the Basketball Sphere, he opened up about his experience with the Atlanta Hawks in the past year.
“I don’t want to say this was my best season in the NBA. I didn’t feel that way. Looking at the overall picture, the numbers may show that, but personally, for me, at least for now, my best performance was in the season when we played the Eastern Conference finals and got eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks. That was my first season with the Atlanta Hawks; although I played well towards the end of the previous year, I was injured for a long time,” said Bogdanović, who averaged 16.9 points in the 2023/24 season. “It was a decent season for me, but I know I can do much better individually.”
Bogdanović knew who his toughest opponent in the NBA was —the Denver Nuggets, led by his compatriot and three-time MVP.
“I least like playing against the Denver Nuggets. I think we’ve won the fewest games against them out of all the teams in the NBA since I’ve been with the Atlanta Hawks. It was a bit different when I played for the Sacramento Kings. Obviously, MVP Jokić is a better player than Nikola Jokić. I have to admit that when it’s true. Everyone has their buddies.”
Even though he had a very busy schedule, the Serbian watched some of the EuroLeague season and one team in particular.
“If I had to highlight something, I mostly watched Vanja Marinković and Baskonia. We trained together this summer, so I learned something from him, and it seems he learned something from me, too. I managed to catch some Partizan games, as well as a few Fenerbahce games, but honestly, I watched very few matches,” Bogdanović stated and clarified why he chose Baskonia to go to the Final Four, sharing his predictions for the EuroLeague in March.
He also touched on his former teammate Nemanja Bjelica’s retirement and joining Bahcesehir as Head of Basketball Operations.
“I’m glad I was part of his career in various fields. In multiple clubs and the national team. We continue to hang out off the court, and a great career is behind him. Only with time passing, the great success he achieved will be evident, as well as what he sacrificed for success and his career. He had an incredible career, and already I see he’s continuing in the same rhythm, and I wish him all the best in all new challenges,” Bogdan Bogdanović concluded.
