The Minnesota Timberwolves made an early statement with a 27 – 2 first-quarter run and then crushed the Denver Nuggets 115 – 70 to force a Game 7 in the Western Conference semifinals.

Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 27 points as his team got its first win over the Nuggets following three straight losses. The 45-point margin is the biggest in a playoff series since 2015 and a 54-point victory of the Chicago Bulls over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Guys just believing in themselves,” Edwards said. “I think the last three games we were all down on ourselves.” Rudy Gobert contributed 14 rebounds to go with his eight points, this time, helping contain Nikola Jokic following an outstanding dominance by the Serbian big man in Game 6.

After posting a playoff career-high-tying 47 points in Game 6, Jokic was held to 22 points, nine rebounds and – the key number – 2 assists. The Nuggets finished with just 26 – 86 shots from the field.
