Following a win to start the Western Conference Finals of the 2024 NBA Playoffs Presented by Google Pixel, Luka Doncic talked about going back to his roots, using his experience with Real Madrid in a leading performance for the Dallas Mavericks.
“Once you play there for many years. And I won there. So, it kind of stays with you,” the Slovenian sensation replied about his Real Madrid DNA in the postgame press conference, “Sometimes you just remember those beautiful moments when you win and what it means to win.”
Playing for the senior team of the team based in the capital of Spain between 2015 and 2018, numerous championships including winning the 2017-18 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. He was named season and Final Four MVP.
Opening a best-of-seven series with a road win, Doncic scored 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter, powering his side to a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves
“That is only one game. We got to come back and try to play the same way, knock down some shots, and get another win, if possible,” he focused on Game 2 in Target Center on Friday.
“He is a very unique player, one of the best in the world,” French Rudy Gobert commented on Doncic from the wrong end of Game 1, “We know he is going to make some tough plays. We just have to make him work for everything he gets. It is a team effort.”
