Heading to the NBA Finals for the first time in 13 years – they won the championship in the 2010-11 season -, the Dallas Mavericks managed to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5, dragged by an outstanding Luka Doncic.
The Slovenian phenomenon dropped an unbelievable double-double of 36 points – 20 of them scored in a first-quarter hot start to create separation – and 10 rebounds, while also adding 5 assists and shooting 14/22 from the field, 6/10 from beyond the arc. He was named Western Conference Finals MVP.
In the post-game press conference, Jason Kidd praised him. “He let his teammates know that it’s time and they’ve got to take it up a notch. He sent the invites out, and they all came”, Dallas Mavericks‘ head coach first said.
Then, he addressed the conversation regarding the greatest players in the NBA. “We believe he is one of the greatest. I think that’s up to the media to write. You guys will place him in a place of great and GOAT debates”, he also commented.
