The Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead over the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, and before Game 2, Luka Doncic spoke to the media.
The Slovenian star, who had a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds but just one assist, talked about what his team should change before the second match at TD Garden.
“We need to be more aggressive. We came out with little energy, so we have to be better with our energy, especially from the start,” Doncic said clearly.
The TD Garden audience targeted his teammate, Kyrie Irving, but Luka believes that doesn’t affect him or the team.
“We talked about it, but we just have to stay together and talk more on the court than we did in Game 1. That’s something I need to improve on as well.”
Doncic also spoke about what it means to him to represent the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.
“It’s big, that’s the team that drafted and believed in me. I’m really happy to represent Dallas, hopefully not for the last time. I think all of Dallas is proud of our team.”
Detroit Pistons’ Ausar Thompson, an NBA Finals media correspondent, attended the press conference and asked the Slovenian player about managing to play freely while remaining serious.
“I just try to have fun. It’s the game I love. It’s the game that pays me. There’s nothing better in the world than playing basketball for your job.”
At the end of his media availability, Luka Doncic spoke about football, saying that he knew Kylian Mbappe would join Real Madrid before it was made official but that they hadn’t spoken after the big transfer in European football was announced.
He also gave his prognosis for the upcoming EURO 2024.
“Slovenia,” Doncic simply supported his compatriots before leaving the press conference before Game 2 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden.
