After UConn coach Dan Hurley turned down the Los Angeles Lakers, the club is moving to other options. The most prominent one right now appears to be former NBA player JJ Redick who will interview for the Lakers’ vacant head coach position this weekend, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Redick had been rumored to be of interest to the Lakers before the reports about Hurley appeared. The former 15-year NBA veteran and current analyst on ESPN, has already had a lengthy talk with Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka and the two sides will meet once again in the coming days, now with the presence of club owner Jeanie Buss.
If the interview progresses well and the Lakers do offer Redick the job and he accepts it, then he will begin his coaching career at the helm of one of the biggest franchises in the NBA.
Redick is also co-hosting the Mind the Game Pod with LeBron James. The latter has been reported to not being involved with the Lakers head coach search.
