Between Cameroon, France, and the USA, Philadelphia 76ers big man and 2023 NBA MVP, Joel Embiid, chose the latter.
His name was listed in the Team USA roster for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, and despite missing a significant portion of the NBA season, he believes he’ll be ready to play in France.
“I’m doing great. Just getting ready for the Olympics,” Embiid said.
He’s excited to represent the US national team, sharing that it was his dream to play in the Olympics.
“It’s going to be big for me because I’ve been dreaming about it since I was a kid.”
Following preparations and completion of the squad, Team USA will compete in Group C of the preliminary round of the Olympic Games. The opponents en route to a potential berth in the Quarterfinals are Serbia, South Sudan, and the winner of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, one of Bahrain, Cote d’Ivoire, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
