Kristaps Porzingis became the first Latvian-born player to win an NBA Championship, but unfortunately, that came with a price.

The Boston Celtics center will have to undergo surgery after winning the Finals 4-1 against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.

I don’t care. I will fix it. This is the most important, and after my injury healing and all that, it’s totally worth it,Porzingis said as reported by ESPN.

Porzingis suffered a torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in Game 2 — an injury the team described as “rare” in its news release.

After missing Games 3 and 4 in Dallas, he returned to play 16 minutes in Boston’s series-deciding 106-88 victory.

He could be out for a few months, meaning he is likely to miss Olympic Qualification Tournament in Riga.
