The NBA Draft Night is always a moment of unpredictability, with teams switching players and picks. That’s exactly what happened between Washington and Portland, as the Wizards sent Deni Avdija for Malcolm Brogdon, last night’s 14th pick, and a first-rounder in 2029.
The 23-year-old was selected by Washington with the 9th overall pick in 2020, after playing three years with Maccabi Tel Aviv. In the 2023-24 season, he promised 14.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, but Washington didn’t go anywhere near the Playoffs picture.
With the Israeli national team, he last appeared at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, averaging 10.5 points over two encounters. At EuroBasket 2022, he went off for 14.6, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
