LeBron James won one of his four NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and is expected to try for another one, despite declining his player option for the next season.
According to Shams Charania, one of the greatest NBA players of all time intends to opt out of his $51.4 million player option, but the expectation is that he’ll return to the Lakers on a new deal.
James joined the Lakers in 2018 and led the LA team to a championship in 2020. Last season, he averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game, and also became the first player in history to reach 40,000 career points.
This offseason, the Lakers picked Bronny James, LeBron’s son, at No. 55 in the NBA Draft and appointed JJ Redick, his co-host from the Mind the Game podcast, as their new head coach.
