Evan Fournier is a free agent after the Pistons decided not to pick up his option for next season, many rumors from Europe presented him as a potential target of EuroLeague teams, mainly Olympiacos, however, according to a report by Marc Stein, his goal remains the NBA.
As Stein wrote: “There will naturally be talk of EuroLeague interest in Evan Fournier after Detroit declined to pick up the Frenchman’s $19 million team option for next season, but league sources say Fournier prefers to try to continue his NBA career. He’s only 31 and expected to generate some NBA interest”.
Fournier is preparing for the Paris Olympics with the French national team and his play in the tournament may create more buzz that will convince an NBA team to give him a contract.
After all, Fournier has been established in the NBA during his days with the Orlando Magic, before falling from grace with the Knicks and then being shipped to Detroit.
During the 2023-24 season, he appeared in just three games with the Knicks and after being traded to the Pistons on the 8th of February he averaged 7.2 points in 29 games. However, during the first part of the 2020-21 season with Orlando – before being traded to Boston – Fournier averaged a career-best 19.7 ppg being a solid offensive threat.
