Klay Thompson will try to get one more championship title, but he will attempt to do it as a teammate of Luka Doncic. His move from the Golden State Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks became official, signaling the end of an era.

Per the press release: After Klay Thompson played 13 years with the Warriors, he and the Dallas Mavericks made a big splash of their own as the five-time All-Star signed with the Mavs on Saturday via a sign-and-trade that saw the Mavs ship a pair of second-round picks to the Warriors and also send fourth-year swingman Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets.

Signed by the Mavs to a three-year, $50 million contract, Thompson helped the Warriors win four NBA championships – the last one occurring in 2022 after Golden State defeated the Mavs in five games in the Western Conference Finals. At 6-6 and 220 pounds, Thompson is the perfect fit for a Mavs squad that lost in the NBA Finals last month to the Boston Celtics in five games.

The Mavs also replaced Derrick Jones Jr by signing Naji Marshall to a reported three-year, $27-million free-agent contract and traded Tim Hardaway Jr. to the Detroit Pistons.

The veteran shooting guard was dealt along with three second-round draft picks to facilitate the acquisition of Quentin Grimes with a trade.
