Born and raised in Chicago, Matas Buzelis was selected by the Bulls with the 11th pick in the latest NBA Draft. Now, he wants to achieve something the franchise hasn’t done in almost thirty years: add some hardware to the cabinet.
Talking to NBC Sports Chicago Bulls Talk Podcast, the 2004-born forward expressed his desire to win. “This franchise has six [championships]. I want to add seven, eight, nine. That’s what I do”, he said.
He also talked about his way to the NBA. “I know what player I am. I work extremely hard. I don’t think anybody in the draft works harder than me. Right now, it’s 0-0. It doesn’t matter where you’re picked. You get to go out and play against [the other rookies]”, Matas Buzelis said.
Moving to the G-League in 2023 to play with the G-League Ignite, he finished with 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in his last season before heading to the NBA.
The 19-year-old talent, who chose to represent Lithuania internationally, is eager to win. “Of course [I want to] get better as a player. But I think the main thing is I want to win championships. That’s me. When I’m on the court, I want to kill you”, Matas Buzelis fearlessly said.
