Discussing Bronny James being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft and disappointing showings in the NBA Summer League, Enes Kanter Freedom called LeBron James a dictator.

“He might be a good dude, but he’s not good enough to play in the NBA. The reason he got drafted is because of LeBron. The reason JJ Redick is the coach is because of LeBron,” he said in an appearance on OutKick.

“No other player wants to go play with LeBron,” he added, “When the Lakers’ season fails, LeBron tries to find a player to blame, and he blamed the whole season on Russell Westbrook, so he is not a good teammate. Obviously, he runs the media, and he tries to control this narrative, but when you actually know and have a conversation inside of the NBA and its players, nobody wants to play with him.”

Freedom, 32, is a veteran of 807 games played in the NBA. Following numerous incidents off the court, including becoming publicly critical of Turkiye president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he has been out of the league since 2022.

“When I see a dictator, I know it. LeBron is literally like the dictator of the NBA. He controls the media, he controls his narrative, if you go against his agenda, you get traded, everybody knows it,” he described the four-time NBA champion.

Shaping the first father-son combination in NBA history, the Lakers selected 19-year-old Bronny with the 55th overall pick of the recent draft.
