It appears that Russell Westbrook will be joining the Denver Nuggets for the next season.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Clippers are trading Westbrook to the Utah Jazz along with a second-round pick in exchange for Kris Dunn. Westbrook is then expected to work on a buyout with the Jazz to become a free agent and then sign with the Nuggets.
Westbrook has been rumored to be flirting with a move to the Nuggets. It was reported that Nikola Jokic wants to play with the 2017 NBA MVP and that he has communicated is desire to the club while “working behind the scenes” to make it happen.
If the Nuggets acquire Westbrook they will add some valuable backcourt depth with a highly motivated veteran star that is looking for a team to win his first NBA championship with.
Westbrook, a nine-time NBA All-Star, averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 22.5 minutes over 68 games in the 2023-24 regular season. It was his 16th year in the league.
