An intriguing reaction by Anthony Edwards on a question about the Minnesota Timberwolves sweeping the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel.

“I am not going to lie. I felt bad a little bit, only because he is my favorite player of all-time,” he jokingly referred to Kevin Durant during an appearance alongside the 35-year-old forward and Team USA teammate on the panel of Fanatics Fest on Saturday, “I did not want to send him home like that. It happened, man. I felt bad.”

After dominating the Suns, the Wolves went on to eliminate the Denver Nuggets and Serbian Nikola Jokic in seven games, before falling to the Dallas Mavericks and Slovenian Luka Doncic in the Western Conference Finals. It was the franchise’s first berth in the Semifinals of the Playoffs since 2004.

Edwards, 23, tallied 27.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per contest over 16 games in his third postseason run with the Timberwolves, including 31 points per game in the four-game sweep of the Suns. On the opposite end, the two-time NBA champion had 26.8 points per game in the series.

Joining forces in the 2024 Olympic Games, they pushed the United States to gold in France. Edwards chipped in 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.2 assists, and 0.3 blocks per contest, while Durant averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.
