Real Madrid forward Guerschon Yabusele is returning to the NBA. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the French forward will be signing a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Yabusele’s contract with Real Madrid includes a 2.5 million buyout that the player will resolve to join the Sixers. If the deal is finalized, he will be back in the NBA after his 2017-2019 stint with the Boston Celtics.
In the 2024 Olympic Games, the 28-year-old Yabusele had a standout tournament with 14.0 points and 3.3 rebounds to help France win the silver medal. He was arguably the top player of his national team during the knockout stages, posting 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds against Canada, Germany and Team USA in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final respectively.
These performances attracted the interest of NBA clubs, including the Sixers who are now expected to acquire Yabusele.
Over the last three seasons, Yabusele played for Real Madrid and established himself as an elite forward in the EuroLeague. With the Spanish powerhouse, he won the 2023 EuroLeague championship, the 2022 and 2024 ACB title as well as the 2021, 2022 and 2023 SuperCup trophies.
