Placed among several NBA free agents from Europe linked to various Turkish Airlines EuroLeague clubs, Davis Bertans is looking for another NBA contract, specifically with the Golden State Warriors.
Bertans, 31, has been invited to work out with the Warriors, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
“Davis Bertans will prepare for the upcoming season with the Golden State Warriors,” his agent Arturs Kalnitis confirmed via a story on his personal Instagram account, “Good luck in the Bay Area, DB.”
With some roster flexibility in place, the Warriors can potentially sign the experienced forward to a non-guaranteed contract and offer him an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during the 2024 NBA Preseason.
The Latvian sharpshooter was waived by the Charlotte Hornets in July. He started the 2023-24 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging merely 6.1 minutes per game over 15 appearances. After being traded to the Hornets in February, he improved to 20.8 minutes per contest, tallying 8.8 points and 1.8 rebounds blocks per game.
Earlier NBA experience for the native of Valmiera is attached to the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, and San Antonio Spurs, between 2016 and 2023. In 2011, he was selected with the 42nd overall pick of the annual draft by the Indiana Pacers.
A veteran of 522 NBA games, Bertans has been linked to Real Madrid during the offseason. Los Blancos are scanning the market for a late boost and have since reached advanced talks with Turkish forward Cedi Osman.
