A troubled relationship between George Karl and Carmelo Anthony seems to have reached the point of resolving lingering issues.

Karl, 73, utterly changed his approach on Wednesday night.

“In a time of division, where coming together truly matters, I’m done feuding with Carmelo Anthony,” he wrote in a post shared on his personal X account, “I have tremendous respect for Melo. We don’t know each other now but I hear he’s kicking butt and using his influence for positive impact.”

“It’s all love now from here out,” added Karl.

The 2022 class of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member behind a long coaching career, including spells with Real Madrid, coached the future Hall of Famer between 2005 and 2011 as the Denver Nuggets boss. With him publicly attacking his former player over recent years, Anthony generally remained silent, ignoring most criticism. At this point, their relationship can be balanced or stay the same, depending on a potential reaction by Anthony.

Anthony, 40, spend eight years with the Nuggets after being selected with the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. The Syracuse product returned to New York and played for the Knicks from 2011 to 2017. In briefer stints for the remainder of his career, he became a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. Following his retirement, he was named Global Ambassador of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, building a strong relationship with FIBA.
