One of the biggest offseason moves in the NBA saw four-time champion and former Golden State Warriors legend Klay Thompson moving to the Dallas Mavericks, joining the exceptional backcourt duo composed of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
Ahead of his 7th season in the NBA, the Slovenian phenomenon spoke about such a transfer. “Unbelievable”, he described the move. “He’s a four-time champion, he’s an amazing player, so I was very excited that he signed with us. I can’t wait to play with him”, he said about his newest teammate.
He then analyzed it more in detail. “You basically can’t help off him. When me and [Kyrie Irving] have the ball, you basically can’t help from Klay [Thompson] because if you leave him wide open he’s going to make it, so I think the spacing is going to be crucial for us”, Luka Doncic followed.
The former Real Madrid icon and EuroLeague MVP also set the goal for this season: “Championship”. Dallas came up short only in last year’s NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. That was the closest Luka Doncic has ever been to the NBA Championship.
Klay Thompson himself praised the Dallas Mavericks’ superstar, saying that the pick-and-roll he has played in the past few days with Luka Doncic has been “the best” he has “ever seen”.
