Vincent Collet reportedly reunites with Kenny Atkinson at the Cleveland Cavaliers

Vincent Collet is ready to work with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a consultant, according to L’Équipe.

The news was reported by the French outlet on Wednesday.

After ending a long spell as the selector of France’s senior national team, Collet will move to the NBA and reunite with Kenny Atkinson, his assistant during the 2024 Olympic Games.

Collet, 61, was recently announced as the Special Advisor to the National Technical Directorate of the French Federation of Basketball, FFBB. According to the report of L’Équipe, he can handle both jobs simultaneously, since he will be required to be in the United States for approximately one week each month.

Back in 2007, he was named to the coaching staff of the Cavaliers for the Summer League. He was among the assistants under head coach Melvin Hunt.

The French tactician held the position of head coach of the senior national team of his country from 2009, dominating his coaching career. The stint featured silver Olympic medals in 2020 and 2024, bronze medals in the 2014 and 2019 editions of the FIBA World Cup, a gold medal in the 2013 EuroBasket, a silver medal in the 2011 and 2022 EuroBasket, and a bronze medal in the 2015 EuroBasket.

Further coaching experience includes the 2022-23 season with Victor Wembanyama during his spell as the boss of Metropolitans 92 between 2021 and 2023. SIG Strasbourg, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, and Le Mans are other former clubs of Collet in France.
