The Charlotte Hornets officially waived Duane Washington Jr. on Wednesday.

Per the press release: “Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today the team has waived guard Duane Washington Jr.

Washington Jr. appeared in two preseason games for the Hornets and totaled 12 points in 19 minutes of action. The veteran guard has accumulated 79 appearances (10 starts) in two NBA seasons with the Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns, registering 9.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17.2 minutes per outing. He spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Westchester Knicks, New York’s NBA G League affiliate, and KK Partizan, a Serbian EuroLeague club. Following this transaction, the Hornets roster stands at 20.”

The development was revealed as part of the initial plan for the 24-year-old German-American combo guard.

He was released by Partizan Mozzart Bet last Wednesday to facilitate a three-team trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, and Hornets. In the process, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outfit was compensated.

Washington was indeed shifted from the Knicks to the Hornets through the trade centered on Karl-Anthony Towns and from there placed on waivers. From the top, he was expected to return to Partizan with a new contract.

During the offseason, the native of Frankfurt signed a contract with the team based in the capital of Serbia. Before his departure, he played in two games of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season, averaging 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 assists per contest.
