Hawks and Celtics scout promising upstart Neoklis Avdalas in Greece

The Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics scouted 18-year-old Neoklis Avdalas on Sunday evening.

The promising youngster, widely considered an NBA draft prospect, indeed delivered an impressive game in Round 2 of the Stoiximan GBL Regular Season, pushing Peristeri Domino’s to a home win over Panionios Himi Viva.

Over 17 minutes, he piled up 16 points, including ten in a key stretch with Peristeri gaining a comfortable lead. His efforts went into 3/5 threes and 7/8 free throws. He also tallied three steals and two rebounds en route to a performance index rating of 18.

The 16 points, 18 PIR, three steals, and three triples were all career-highs for the young point forward.

Apart from erupting in the domestic league, the native of Athens debuting in the Basketball Champions League has generated 3.5 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest over two appearances for the team coached by Giorgos Limniatis.

Since joining Panathinaikos Aktor and inking a long-term contract in 2022, Avdalas was loaned to Karditsa Viologiko Horio last season and to Peristeri this season. Before the loan assignments, he logged seven appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with the Greens, besides emerging as a regular across junior national teams of Greece and making his way to the three most recent installments of the Adidas Next Generation Tournament.

Developing his skills combined with such showings and NBA teams rushing to evaluate his talents make his future even more exciting. He is eligible for the 2026 NBA draft.
