Dario Saric credited Nikola Jokic as the main reason behind signing with the Denver Nuggets. Returning the favor, the Serbian superstar set the bar high for his Croatian teammate.
“Dario is a really high IQ player who can play the four and the five, who can stretch the four, who can post up guys,” Jokic mentioned after team practice on Monday.
Coming from one win in five games during the 2024 NBA Preseason, the Nuggets open the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season schedule with a matchup opposite the Oklahoma City Thunder in Ball Arena on Thursday.
“I think we did not play the preseason how we are supposed to be playing,” the Joker illustrated efforts across exhibition action, “The defense was not where it was supposed to be. We could not make shots. So, we played really bad and poorly the whole preseason.”
“It is about the five guys on the court, playing at that time. It is not about two players,” Jokic sidestepped a question about the next joint campaign with Jamal Murray, “When the season comes, it is always different.”
The main change between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons is the Nuggets switching from defending the NBA championship to looking to return to the top.
“We all want to get better. I think that is the most important thing,” Jokic said, “You have that positive energy, let’s say. And we want to be better. Hopefully, we are going in the right direction.”
