After beginning this year’s NBA Regular Season with a win, the Dallas Mavericks suffered a step back against the Phoenix Suns, which won the first Texan derby of the 2024-25 campaign 114-102.

Luka Doncic had an outstanding performance in the loss, with a double-double of 40 points and 10 rebounds, sharing 4 assists as well in a 15/23 shooting night from the field.

The Suns replied with 31 points from Kevin Durant – who also dropped a “too small” celebration after scoring over the Slovenian – and a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds from Jusuf Nurkic.

In the earliest game, with the Los Angeles Clippers winning on the road to keep the Denver Nuggets winless at 0-2, Nikola Jokic had a 41-point losing effort with a career-high 7 three-pointers made.

Following the game, the Joker expressed his delusion. “Just because I scored 40 today doesn’t mean I played well. I think we all need to be better. Just because I scored a lot doesn’t mean that I played well or I played badly. I think we all need to be better”, he commented.

Coming off the bench for the Nuggets, Dario Saric unfortunately concluded the game scoreless. Ivica Zubac shone with 24 points and 15 rebounds for his team’s first road victory of the season.
