Bouncing back from two consecutive losses, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 118-105, and improved to 4-5 in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season.

On Thursday, Victor Wembanyama chipped in 12 points with 4/13 field goals, eight rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and two assists in 32 minutes. He was among eight double-digit scorers for the team coached by Mitch Johnson.

“My favorite kind of win, if I had to describe it, is when we can really answer to the tactics of the opponents while involving everybody,” he shared his opinion on the team scoring display in Frost Bank Center.

The Spurs missed Gregg Popovich for a fourth game in a row. Dealing with health issues, the experienced specialist has been replaced by acting head coach Johnson.

“They keep us informed as much we are allowed to know,” Wemby replied about Popovich, “I am not worried about him. I know he is going to come back soon. We are not talking directly.”

Georgian teammate Sandro Mamukelashvili tallied three points, three rebounds, and one block against the Blazers. French guard Sidy Cissoko added one rebound.

In other European news concerning the Spurs, Polish Jeremy Sochan began recovery after successful surgery to repair a fractured left thumb.

For the Blazers, Israeli Deni Avdija registered nine points plus seven rebounds and five assists. Fellow starter, Belgian Toumani Camara had four points, nine rebounds, one steal, and one assist. French Rayan Rupert did not get on the board.
