The San Antonio Spurs announced Wednesday that head coach Gregg Popovich suffered a mild stroke at the start of November, leading to his recent indefinite medical absence from the team.

Popovich, 75, has been head coach of the Spurs since 1996.

Per the press release: “The episode occurred on Nov. 2 at the Frost Bank Center. Popovich, who has already started a rehabilitation program, is expected to make a full recovery. At this point, a timeline for his return to the sidelines has not been determined”.

Popovich is the NBA’s all-time career leader with 1,390 regular-season victories and an additional 170 postseason wins. He is currently in his 29th season, all with San Antonio.
