From being named an assistant coach of the Brooklyn Nets in the 2024 NBA 2K25 Summer League, Kyle Hines extended his collaboration with the franchise into the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season as a player development assistant.

Hines, 38, officially ended his playing days last September, before joining the coaching staff of the Nets and working under Jordi Fernandez. Early in the first head-coaching campaign of the Spanish tactician in the NBA, his side sits at 5-7 in the Regular Season, half a game inside the Play-In zone, and tied for a direct ticket to the 2025 Playoffs.

Coming out of UNC Greensboro in 2008, the New Jersey native pursued overseas options to launch a professional career. He went on to become a four-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion, besides gathering numerous individual accolades in Europe’s premier club continental competition.

From two years in the second-tier division of Italy, he jumped directly into EuroLeague action with Brose Bamberg in 2010. In 2011, he signed with Greek powerhouse Olympiacos and went on to capture back-to-back EuroLeague championships in 2012 and 2013. Moving to CSKA in 2013 resulted in two more titles, in 2016 and 2019. Between 2020 and 2024, he spent the last four years of his EuroLeague career with AX Armani Exchange / EA7 Emporio Armani Milan.

A three-time EuroLeague Best Defender, he completed his run as the all-time leader in games played and offensive rebounds. Another major highlight was a spot in the 2010-20 EuroLeague All-Decade Team.
