LeBron James, the only player who can challenge Michael Jordan on the NBA GOAT debate, admitted that the end of his tenure on the court is inevitably coming.
“I’m not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest,” James told reporters Wednesday.
“I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be. I said the other night, I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be the guy who is disrespecting the game because I just wanted to be out on the floor. That won’t be me,” he said after the Lakers win over Memphis.
James, who will be 40 years old on December 30th, is still one of the best players in the league, next season will have a record 23-year career, he is the All-Time leading scorer of the League and also the first player who was a teammate with his son on an NBA game.
With all this in mind, retirement is near and it remains to be seen if it will coincide with the expansion of the NBA since LeBron is among the possible owners of a new franchise in Las Vegas, as he has himself admitted.
