Giannis Antetokounmpo registered his first season triple-double against the Charlotte Hornets but didn’t finish the game the way he wanted.
Antetokounmpo missed the jumper to win the match in the very last seconds as the Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Hornets 115 – 114 on the road. The Greek Freak posted 22 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists, recording the triple-double in 22 minutes.
It’s the ninth-fastest triple-double in NBA history per StatMamba.
Lamelo Ball hit the winning free throws with 7.1 seconds remaining after the referees called Giannis with the foul on the Hornets’ guard as the latter tried to drive to the basket, only to drop on the floor. While there was some contact, the replay clearly showed Ball more tripping on his own feet rather than Antetokounmpo making him fall.
The Bucks called the timeout and then Giannis took the game-winning attempt from mid range yet he misfired. Milwaukee dropped to 4 – 9 with this loss.
Ball had 26 points (11-11 free throws), nine rebounds and six assists. Moussa Diabate provided some important help from the bench with 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.
