Giannis Antetokounmpo blocking Alperen Sengun set up the Milwaukee Bucks’ 101-100 win against the Houston Rockets in Fiserv Forum on Monday.
“Vintage,” the Freak commented on his clutch effort.
After missing the three previous outings in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season due to a concussion, Damian Lillard hit a game-winning layup with 3.9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
“I don’t know how I got up. I didn’t think I could get it but I was able to get my fingertips to the ball,” described Giannis, “Great defensive stop by the team. It went the other way. We got to our spots, gave Dame the ball, and he got the matchup that he wanted. He was able to get in the paint and finish the game for us.”
Lasting 35 minutes despite dealing with right patella tendinopathy, the Greek international star finished with 20 points alongside 13 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
“I think he is one of the best to do it, finishing the game,” he praised Lillard, “It’s easy for me to say, ‘I have the ball, let me go all the way’ but at the end of the day I’m a leader that wants to win and do the right thing.”
On the wrong end of the decisive rejection, Turkish Sengun settled at 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 38 minutes.
The visitors rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half but fell short of a fifth straight win.
