Forced to miss the action in the latest three games due to a bruised right knee, Victor Wembanyama couldn’t come back in a better way for the San Antonio Spurs, as he was crucial in the 104-94 win against the Golden State Warriors.

Being down by 17 points (81-64) in the final stretch of the third quarter, the 20-year-old French phenomenon inspired his team’s comeback, ultimately leading to victory. He basically did it all, scoring 12 points and dishing 5 assists in the final ten minutes of the encounter.

Victor Wembanyama finished by flirting with a triple-double, dropping 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists for the San Antonio Spurs. Off the bench, Sandro Mamukelashvili helped with 5 points and 8 rebounds.

European dominance elsewhere

It was a night full of huge European performances all throughout the NBA landscape. Santi Aldama, for example, dropped a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to help Memphis beat Chicago despite Nikola Vucevic’s 26 points and 8 boards. Matas Buzelis added 14 points.

Deni Avdija didn’t start for the Portland Trail Blazers in Houston, but he finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to beat the Rockets; on the losing side, Alperen Sengun did his best with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, but he wasn’t enough to contribute to a home win.

To finished Saturday’s action, Lauri Markkanen went close to his season-high in scoring as he put up 34 points and 9 rebounds over 11/15 from the field and 7/8 at the line to lift up Utah against New York. OG Anunoby had a 27-point losing effort on the Knicks‘ side.
