Blazers forward Deni Avdija has been quite enjoying life in Portland since it also brings a certain feeling of familiarity to him.
“I love Portland. I feel like it’s my vibe,” Avdija said per Sam Yip of Hoopshype. “It kinda reminds me of where I grew up with a lot of nature so I definitely like the food.” Avdija was born in agricultural Beit Zera, a kibbutz in Israel, and made his basketball beginnings as a kid in the coastal city of Herzliya, playing for the eponymous city.
“The people are very nice, especially for the Blazer players,” Avdija added. “I feel like we can do well for the city, I feel like I can have a lot of good things.”
Avdija, was traded to the Blazers by the Washington Wizards last summer after spending the first four years of this NBA career with the latter. So far in 2024-25, the 23-year-old player is averaging 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 26.7 minutes over 23 games. Portland is 8 – 15 and 13th in the Western Conference standings.
