San Antonio improved to a positive record at 16-15 during the night by beating the Brooklyn Nets 96-87 on the road, but they wouldn’t have done it without their European flashy duo.
Taking the spotlight – and not only for his fluorescent green haircut -, Jeremy Sochan had a winning double-double for this team, ending with 12 points and 14 rebounds. He shot 6/8 from the free-throw line, as he keeps shooting with one-handed mechanics.
Victor Wembanyama was coming off a brilliant debut in the NBA Christmas Game but still contributed with a team-high 19 points, also grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing 4 assists with 6 blocks too.
Joker’s triple-double in Denver’s defeat
Nikola Jokic had a triple-double of 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists, but Denver lost at home to Cleveland; Ivica Zubac stepped up for a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Clippers‘ win against Golden State, while Dennis Schroder only had 7 points and 5 assists.
Elsewhere in the league, apart from Alperen Sengun’s huge 38-point losing effort as Houston suffered a late defeat against Minnesota, Maxi Kleber had 15 points and 7 rebounds off the bench in Dallas’ win over Phoenix. In the same game, Jusuf Nurkic got ejected alongside Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington.
O.G. Anunoby had 8 points and 5 boards in New York’s 108-85 road win in Orlando, which didn’t have Paolo Banchero and the Wagner brothers; Goga Bitadze had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Daniel Theis had 11 points and 11 rebounds against Memphis, but the Pelicans couldn’t prevail.
