Robbers broke into the Dallas home of Luka Doncic.
Fortunately, the Slovenian superstar of the Dallas Mavericks and his family were not present during the burglary.
“No one was home at the time and thankfully Luka and his family are safe,” mentioned business manager Lara Beth Seager, per NBA insider Marc Stein. “Luka has filed a police report and an investigation is ongoing.”
The incident was revealed on Saturday, a few days after Doncic was ruled out for at least one month due to a left calf strain. Combined with missing more games earlier in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season, the extensive stint on the injury list of the Mavs excludes him from contention for numerous annual awards, such as the Most Valuable Player of the season and All-NBA Teams distinctions. Depending on potential progress in recovery, he is currently considered questionable to play in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
The Ljubljana is on a five-year streak of appearances in the annual All-Star Game, besides also being named in the All-NBA First Team between 2020 and 2024. Additional accolades include winning the scoring race of the 2023-24 season.
Over 22 games played in his seventh year in Dallas and in the league based in North America, Doncic tallied 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest.
Behind a 20-11 record, the team coached by Jason Kidd is fourth in the Western Conference standings, five games behind the leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
