After surprising everybody in New York City by showing up to play chess, Victor Wembanyama traveled with the San Antonio Spurs to Minnesota but didn’t come back with a victory.

Gregg Popovich’s team suffered a close 112-110 defeat despite the French sophomore’s umpteenth huge night with 34 points, 8 points, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 4/12 from beyond the arc.

On the other side of the court, his countryman and national teammate Rudy Gobert exploded for a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds, adding 2 assists and 2 blocks too.

Zaccharie Risacher helping Atlanta on the road

Another French player could celebrate tonight, as the No.1 pick in the latest NBA Draft contributed to Atlanta’s 136-107 road win against the Toronto Raptors.

Zaccharie Risacher isn’t living the best of first seasons in the NBA, but still had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Clint Capela added 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Vit Krejci also started the game and finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

Elsewhere, Nikola Jovic had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists off the bench against Houston; for the Rockets, Alperen Sengun’s double-double of 18 points and 18 rebounds wasn’t enough.
