No Wagner brothers? No real problem for Orlando, which can rely on another German asset from this season: Tristan da Silva, brother of Oscar da Silva, currently in the EuroLeague with Bayern.

The German forward had a 25-point night over 5/7 from beyond the arc for his team, ending with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for the Magic against Toronto.

In a personal clash between Austria and Germany, Jakob Poeltl also finished with 25 points in the defeat, grabbing 6 rebounds too and shooting 11/12 from the field, 3/3 at the line.

Tristan Da Silva also spoke in the aftermath. “I’m really just trying to take it all in as a journey. As a rookie year, you’re obviously gonna have ups and downs, you’re gonna have games when the shots are not falling and games like tonight where I felt really good”, he said.

“But I’m trying not to let the single game define my mental health space. Having a steady mindset helps me to bounce back”, the German forward continued.

Tristan da Silva is averaging 8.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, and the Orlando Magic have now improved their record to 21-15, standing in 4th position in the East.

Rookie of the Month Alex Sarr couldn’t celebrate with a win

Talking about German players, Isaiah Hartenstein’s 14 rebounds helped Oklahoma City at the rim against the New York Knicks, while O.G. Anunoby had a 20-point losing effort. Elsewhere, Domantas Sabonis had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists for Sacramento’s win over Memphis.

Alperen Sengun played consistently against the reigning NBA champions and finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds, but Boston prevailed with 11 points and 5 rebounds too from Kristaps Porzingis.

While CJ McCollum had a 50-point eruption for the New Orleans Pelicans, the latest Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Alexandre Sarr still finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists but Washington wasn’t successful. Jonas Valanciunas had 9 points and 10 boards.
