The Milwaukee Bucks lost their fourth game out of the last five, falling at home to the Portland Trail Blazers, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo recording a 30-point double-double.
Speaking after the match, the Greek international expressed his disappointment.
“We’re not playing well. Two close games, we weren’t able to get them. It definitely hurts. We’re not playing well. I feel like before Vegas we figured some things out, had a great rhythm, playing very well as a team,” Antetokounmpo said.
He recenlty spent some time out with a non-COVID illness, and that affected his rhythm.
“I gotta be more aggressive. I gotta get back in rhythm. I’m not in rhythm right now. Missed a lot of layups. I feel like the illness took a lot; it took a toll on me. And slowly, slowly, I’m getting back, ramping back to it. It was the first time I was out – not for the full nine days because I wasn’t sick for nine days, but those four or five days that I was out, it took a lot out of my body. Think about it like a savings account – now I’m in the minus. So, I gotta keep building.”
The Bucks superstar believes he can do more for the team.
“I gotta build my body, gotta get some weights, gotta get some food in me, gotta get some cardio in me to go back to the positive and be able to compete because I’m digging myself into a hole right now. So, yeah, I gotta be more aggressive. I think I can help the team more. And not just facilitate, but get guys open looks more and defend harder. I can definitely help the team get a better start to the game,” Giannis Antetokounmpo concluded.
