Far from a pleasant evening in the Madison Square Garden, Giannis Antetokounmpo did unlock another achievement to add to more impressive accolades throughout his career.
Up to 19,476 points in the NBA Regular Season, he improved to 57th in the all-time scoring list. During the latest edition of NBA Sundays, he initially passed Terry Cummings and then overtook Tony Parker as well.
The four-time NBA champion, currently the team president of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, finished his career with 19,473 points in the Regular Season. Except for 530 scored with the Charlotte Hornets to wrap up his playing career during the 2018-19 campaign, the rest of the points were delivered for the San Antonio Spurs between 2001 and 2018. In 2023, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Antetokounmpo, 30, passed the legend of French basketball and will certainly continue his rise in the all-time scoring list. Ranking 56th is Dwight Howard, only nine points over the Freak and likely to fall one spot when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Sacramento Kings in Fiserv Forum on Tuesday.
The international star with Greece posted a 24-point, 13-rebound double-double in a losing effort versus the New York Knicks on Sunday. Projections based on averaging 31.4 points per contest in the 2024-25 Regular Season, he can go all the way up to 47th on the list by the end of the ongoing campaign, his 12th in the league, all with the Bucks.
