Even though the news of the “trade of the century” cast a shadow over pretty much everything, there were still some interesting games and great performances from European players in the NBA last night.
The three-time NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic, recorded another triple-double and led the Denver Nuggets to a 107-104 road win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Jokic had 28 points, 17 assists, and 13 rebounds, scoring five points in the Nuggets’ 7-0 run to turn the score around and win the game in the final 42 seconds.
On the other side, Vasilije Micić went scoreless for the Hornets, adding three rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes, while Moussa Diabate contributed 12 points and seven rebounds.
The clash of the Frenchmen ended with Bilal Coulibaly and the Washington Wizards edging Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves 105-103.
Coulibaly recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and five assists, while Gobert had a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jonas Valančiūnas also had a strong performance for the Wizards with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Keyshawn George chipped in 11 points.
Isaiah Hartenstein tallied 16 points and 14 rebounds in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s convincing 144-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Domantas Sabonis had 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the losing team.
Victor Wembanyama sat out the clash against the Miami Heat, and the San Antonio Spurs lost at home 105-103, with Bam Adebayo hitting the game-winner.
Nikola Jović had another solid game for the Florida team with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Sandro Mamukelashvili scored 10 points for the Spurs, and Jeremy Sochan added two points, five rebounds, and three assists.
The LA Lakers defeated the New York Knicks 128-112 at Madison Square Garden, while O.G. Anunoby scored 13 points for the losing side.
Last but not least, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Phoenix Suns 127-108, with two European players making an impact. Toumani Camara recorded an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Blazers, while Deni Avdija contributed 10 points and five rebounds.
